"Same, but Different," lyrically, seems to be about two exes seeing each other for the first time in years, and the narrator seems to have changed, however the other ex has not changed at all since they ended the relationship. However, the song is really about my change from my previous project, The Revival, to F.R.I.G.H.T. When I announced this change, there were some people that negatively to the backlash and not accepting the change, even though the music would be the same, and just the image would change, hence me/ my music being the "Same, but Different". There are also lyrics that talk about my general frustration of pleasing my audience such as making songs that people will enjoying being akin to their love being a 'roll of the dice' and being not really listening to the lyrics.
